The goal was to develop an experience that bridges the gap between online video content and the customizable, hands-on nature of in-store shopping. Our solution needed to allow users to select different ingredients while watching Jamie Oliver prepare his signature veggie-based dishes and give them a personalized recipe they could make at home. The result had to be easy, intuitive, and inspire users to make purchases directly through the platform.

We developed an interactive web application with Eko's cutting-edge video technology that allows users to engage with the video content in real time. As users watch Jamie Oliver prepare a variety of veggie-centric dishes, they can choose from multiple ingredient options, customize their recipe, and instantly see how their selections affect the final meal. This interaction keeps users engaged throughout the experience, giving them the ability to create unique combinations and experiment with their favorite flavors.

At the core of this experience is the seamless integration of video content and e-commerce. The project translates the excitement and personalization of in-store shopping into a native digital environment, where video-first interactions capture the attention and imagination of users. By giving viewers agency over their meal choices, we created a deeper, more personal connection to the content, encouraging them to explore, engage, and ultimately make purchases.

This innovative approach to content-to-commerce allowed Buzzfeed and Jamie Oliver’s team to inspire healthier eating habits while driving product sales, leveraging video as a powerful medium for both discovery and action.

Jamie Oliver’s Veggie Boost is a perfect example of how video-first, interactive content can capture hearts and minds while inspiring action.
